ENTER WORD LIST
Decide how many rows you want
http://www.eslactivities.com/bingo.php
Here is where you enter the words to go on the BINGO cards. You may enter as many words as you like. The BINGO Card Generator will then choose the correct number of words from your list to place on each card according to the number of rows and columns you selected. For example, if you enter 28 words, and you chose 5 columns and 5 rows for your card(s), then the BINGO Card Generator will choose 25 words to put on each card. This means that not all cards will have the same words. If you want all the cards to have the same number of words, enter only as many words as are allowed on each card.
To enter a new word into the list, type the word in the Text box, and a clue (optional) into the Clue box. Then click on Add Word. To edit a word already on the list, click the next to the word. The word (and its clue) will appear in the boxes at the bottom of the list. Change the text as you like and then click on Add Word. To delete a word from the list, click on the next to the word.
Word List?
The BINGO Card Generator allows you to save the list of words you enter so that you can use it in another of our teacher tools (e.g. the Crossword Puzzle Maker). Once you have entered the words you want, then click on Save Word List to save the list to your computer. If you already have a word list saved that you want to use again, then click on Open Word List to upload it to the BINGO Card Generator.
Clues?
The BINGO Card Generator allows you to enter clues with your words. The clues can be printed on a "call card," which is basically a page with all the words you entered (and any clues you want to go with those words) in a randomized order. For example, you can put vocabulary words on the BINGO cards and then have sentences to match the words in the clue boxes. Then the sentences are printed on the call card, and your students have to find the word (on their cards) that matches the sentences you call out. On the other hand, you could put sentences on the BINGO cards and the corresponding words in the clue boxes. Whatever you type in the Clue box will be printed on the Call Card (with the corresponding answer), but will NOT be printed on the BINGO cards.
CARD SETTINGS
Here is where you set different settings for your BINGO Cards. The different settings are explained below. As you change each setting, you can preview its effects on a sample square from one of the cards. To change the text in the sample preview square, click on the appropriate text in the word list box.
Font Size:
The BINGO Card Generator automatically sets the appropriate font size based on the words in your word list and the paper size you have chosen (normally A4). If you want to make the font size smaller, change the font size setting on this page.
Font:
The BINGO Card Generator allows you to use different fonts on your bingo cards. The fonts shown in the list are common to all Windows computers and most Macintosh computers. If a certain font you want doesn't appear correctly, please choose a different font.
Paper Size:
The default or standard paper size for the BINGO Card Generator is A4. If you are located in the United States, you should use Letter size. Please set the paper size to equal the paper you have in your printer.
Colors:
You have the option of changing the text color, background color, and border color for the bingo cards. The standard colors are already set for you. To change a color, click on the box for the area you want to change (i.e. click on the box next to Font Color: to change the font color, etc.).
Number of Cards:
Change this setting to generate any number of cards using the same word list. The generator will generate from 1 to 99 cards. The more cards you generate, the longer it may take.
Free Space:
The FREE Space takes the place of one of your words on each card. This space is considered as automatic (i.e. you don't have to call the space before a student can mark it). This space is inserted at random. It is not always placed in the center of the card.
PRINT CARDS
Here is where you print your BINGO Cards. To print all the cards, click on Print All Cards. To print only the card you see on the screen, click on Print This Card. To view a different card, click on the card number (located above the card view). To make any changes to the bingo card settings, click on Change Settings.
Call Card:
The Call Card is a page with all the words on your word list printed in random order, along with any clues you entered for those words. You can use this card to call out the items while playing BINGO.
Flash Cards:
If you click Print Flash Cards, the Call Card is printed in flash card style so you can cut them up and use them to call out the items. You can also have students call out the items using the flash cards.
Print Settings:
Before printing the cards, please check to make sure the paper size you chose for the cards is the same paper you have in your printer. When the print dialog pops-up, click on Preferences and check to make sure the printer is set to use this paper size. Make sure the printer is set to print Landscape. The cards are designed to be printed landscape.
Saving Cards, Call Card, or Flash Cards:
To save any of the cards, or the call card or flash cards to your computer, follow these instructions:
- Click on the appropriate button (i.e. click on PRINT THIS CARD to save only the current card, click on PRINT ALL CARDS to save all the cards, etc.)
- When the new window pops-up, click Cancel on the print window
- Click on File → Save Page As and save the page to your computer.
- Make sure you have Web Page, complete (*.htm;*.html) selected in the Save as type: box.
When you open the cards from your computer, you will need to enable Javascript in order for the page to get the correct font-size for the paper size you selected when creating the cards. You can do this by clicking on Allow Blocked Content when the Internet Explorer information bar pops-up.
