We have 15 licenses for the entire district. Everyone can share them but not more thatn 15 students can be one at the same time

First Week—Assigning Student Coursework

Steps:

1.       Log in as teacher of class

2.       Select “courseware”

3.       Click “math”

4.       Choose “assign”

5.       Click “students” tab

6.       Check box by students name

7.       Select “assign course” at the bottom of the page

8.       Select “done”

9.       Repeat for Reading

 

Change 2nd Grade Password to 1234

Steps:

1.       Log in as Dawn

2.       Click “manage groups” under the “users” section

3.       Enter Student’s last name in “search users” box

4.       Select “search”

5.       Double click correct student name from list

6.       Change password to 1234 in both fields

7.       Click “save” at bottom of page

 

Re:  Changing a Student from “Initial Reader” to “Reader’s Workshop.”

Steps:

1.       Sign in

2.       Select Teacher’s Classroom

3.       Click the laptop image

4.       Open “+” on the teacher’s name

5.       Double click on appropriate student name

6.       Select “assignments” button (left hand side of the window)

7.       Click “assign” button (bottom of the window)

8.       Reader’s Workshop – select “ok”

9.       Set level at 2.8 (which is the beginning level for Reader’s Workshop) and choose “set”

10.   Double click on Reader’s Workshop and change progression time to 7 seconds and click “apply”

 

 

Re: Adding a New Student

Steps:

1.       Administrator's (Dawn) login

2.       Select "add user" under the “users” section

3.       Fill in information just in the star fields: first & last name, student ID, under “Usr Type” drop box select “student,” press “next.” (lower case on username…user ID# is their student id number)

4.       Select student’s grade

5.       Select student’s teacher

6.       Type in student’s username

7.       Enter student’s password (ID# or 1234 for 2nd graders)

8.       Re-enter password and leave the rest of the boxes alone

9.       Click “save”

10.   Recheck to make sure all is correct, and then click on “exit add users”

11.   Logout

 

ASSIGN THE NEW STUDENT’S COURSEWORK

 

12.   Now log in as the assigned teacher.

13.   Select “courseware”

14.   Click “math”

15.   Choose “assign”

16.   Click “students” tab

17.   Check box by the student’s name

18.   Select “assign course” at bottom and then “done”

19.   Repeat the same process with Reading

20.   To set course times (math 18 min. and reading 15 min.) or other settings, log in as teacher and go to courseware/assignments. Click course title in the text field which highlights the text areas in blue (i.e. Math).

21.   Blue window opens on right half of screen—choose “edit settings” and change settings as desired.

 

If the student is in SM, but they do not have assignments

1.       Log in as admininistrator (Dawn)

2.       Click on “manage groups” under the “users” section

3.       Enter the student’s last name at the “search users” box

4.       Select “search”

5.       Double click on the correct student’s name from the list (allow for loading time)

6.       Look over the information, make any necessary changes

a.       Grade

b.       Teacher (They have their mess-ups listed as “bad+teacher’s name” which means we have to select the correct teacher)

c.       Username (Is it lower case or upper case)

d.       Reset password (You can’t see the password so re-enter. Make sure you type 1234 for 2nd graders)

e.       Confirm password (Re-enter the password)

7.       Press “save”

 

Re: Checking the Number of Times that a Student Accesses the Progress Report

 

1.       Log in to SM (can do this as any teacher)

2.       Choose an assignment ( i.e., math) - to do this click the down arrow on the right side of the large assignment button to the right of the word "Display."

3.       Select the "Students" tab.

4.       Check mark in the small box next to "Assignment" located in the column title row above the students names.

5.       In the lower left-hand corner of the screen, there is a button labeled "Cumulative Performance Report." Click the arrow on that button and change to "Student Performance Report." Click "Go" and then click "Run Report."

6.       Zoom in and look in the "Report Card" column for the number that shows how many times they accessed the progress report.

 

 

Re: Disabling the "Progress Report" Function

 

1.       You have to be logged in as the homeroom teacher.

2.       Select Users/Groups - Students - View/Browse

3.       Click on the student's name which opens a section on the right side of the screen.

4.       Click the "Edit" button in the math section (the setting button is labeled with an "S").

5.       Disable the "Show Progress Report" feature and click save.

 

 

 

 

Re: Adding Courseware (to the student section rather than the group section - it may be that Dawn will want to do it another way using the group section)

 

1.       Log in as the teacher using their username and employee ID (Get from office).

2.       Click on Courseware/Math/Assign/Students Tab

3.       Checkmark next to 1st Name to select all students

4.       Assign Course

5.       Go to Reading and repeat

6.       Then, click on Assignments at the top

7.       Select Math/Course settings/Change the time if you want (To start, I did 15 for both math and reading)

8.       Save

9.       Select Reading and repeat.

 

 

Generating Quarterly SM Grade-Level Reports in Math & Reading

 

1.       Log in as Dawn

2.       Select Cumulative Performance Report

3.       Choose subject (you don't have to select teacher names)

4.       Select teachers in that grade level (hold down control key to do this)

5.       Select grade level

6.       Create report

7.       Select Export report

8.       Select PDF as report type

9.       Save to SM file in M: drive/Tush folder

 

 

 

 

Changing Student Levels in SuccessMaker

 

1.       Log in as the teacher

2.       Go to usergroups/students/view browse

3.       Click on student name

4.       Click deactivate

5.       Click assign, then search the display area for AW custom courses

 

 

To Add a Student Who Is Transferring from Another USD 437 School

1.       Log in as administrator (Dawn)

2.       Click on “manage groups” under the “users” section

3.       Click in the “search users” box and type the student’s name

4.       Select the correct student by double-clicking on his/her name

5.       Change the teacher’s name from the previous school teacher’s name to the new AE teacher’s name

6.       Select “save”

7.       At the “user updated” pop-up, click “ok”

8.       Log out

9.       Log in as the AE teacher and make sure the new student is listed under “students” tab

10.   Student will still be “owned” by the previous teacher (no way to change that)

11.   Coursework should be already be assigned (?) but if not:

a.   Log into the teacher’s account with their username and password

b.   Select  “courseware”

c.   Click on “math”

d.   Choose “assign”

e.   Click on “students” tab

f.        Check the box by the student’s name

g.   Select “assign course” at the bottom and then click “done”

h.   Repeat the same process with Reading
